Google’s Search Share is 35%. It’s Time for Google SEO.

These days, Google SEO is gaining immense popularity everywhere.
In the past, there was a tendency to focus more on Naver due to the perception that Google was ineffective, but that’s literally an old story now.
Just 10 years ago, Google’s domestic search engine market share was only 1-2%, but in 10 years, it has reached 35%.

If you include the traffic from YouTube, a Google subsidiary, Google’s search share in Korea has already surpassed Naver’s for a long time,
However, when comparing “Google” search volume as a single platform, it has not yet surpassed Naver.
Nevertheless, the gap in market share with Naver is steadily decreasing.

Interest in Google SEO Can be Observed in Various Places.

First, if you look at Blackkiwi’s July 2023 data, Google’s domestic search share is recorded at 35%.
Also, when a Google SEO lecture was recently announced, 20 B2B marketers attended,
Seeing the interest from marketing practitioners themselves, it was clear that the demand for Google SEO has increased.

What Topics Were Covered in this Google SEO Lecture?

Google SEO Lecture Curriculum
Google SEO Lecture Curriculum

The content taught in this Google SEO lecture covers three main areas, as listed above.
First, there’s Technical SEO, which optimizes web pages for Google SEO, Content SEO,
and Off-Page SEO, which involves backlink building.

Although it’s important to master all three areas, this lecture was attended by practicing marketers, so
for Content SEO, I only briefly explained technical aspects like Meta Tech,
and focused mostly on Technical SEO and backlink building.

Most attendees understood the Content SEO part well, as they had experience running blogs,
but it seemed there were many aspects of Technical SEO they were unfamiliar with.
Based on my direct experience with Technical SEO, I found that optimizing search exposure was successful when the following areas were improved.

Traffic Changes After Technical SEO Improvements

Clean up Unused JavaScript

First, when checking Google Page Speed, unnecessary scripts cause page speed degradation issues.
The first thing we did was to check Google Page Speed and then reduce unnecessary sources to increase page speed.

Convert Images to WEBP Format

While scripts affect page loading speed, image file size is a significant issue.
We used a plugin to convert JPG and PNG images to WEBP format.
Although there are various image conversion technologies like JPEG2000, JPEGXR, and WEBP, WEBP is a patented Google technology,
and is generally known to help with SEO optimization.

Enhance Page Speed by Applying Lazy Loading

This feature allows only images visible to the user on a website to be loaded.
By not loading images outside the viewport, it helps the website maintain fast loading speeds.

Implement CDN (Content Delivery Network)

A CDN is a server network that delivers content.
The purpose of a CDN is to facilitate smooth communication between the origin server (where the site is hosted) and the requesting user,
by distributing servers across various regions to quickly load web pages.

With the above Improvements, We Enhanced Page Speed, which Significantly Impacts Google SEO.

Through the above tasks, we essentially improved page speed, which has a positive effect on Google SEO.
Page speed has become even more important with the update that limits images crawled by Googlebot to a 15MB cap.
Ultimately, you can see that the core of Technical SEO is to compress unnecessary parts of a webpage to create a lightweight page that loads smoothly.

Additionally, a Backlink Building Strategy is Crucial for Google SEO.

In addition, a backlink building strategy is very important for Google SEO.
Typically, guest posting or PBN (Private Blog Networks) strategies are widely used,
but guest posting requires a lot of effort, and building a personal PBN is difficult, so neither method is easy.
However, these are aspects that must be addressed to succeed with Google SEO.

As interest in Google SEO grows, the demand for PBN construction is expected to increase in Korea as well.
Personally, while there are many people with strong technical SEO skills who have been involved in web development for a long time,
the number of those who have built personal PBNs seems quite small.
